Telluride added one more festival to it’s calendar in 2010. The first annual Telluride Photo Festival aimed to bring photographers from different disciplines together in a beautiful location to learn, share and celebrate photography. Along with presentations, seminars and portfolio reviews, the festival also offered workshops. I was lucky enough to get a spot in Tim Kemple’s Commercial Photography class. Along with in-class learning, we went outside to photograph professional models in natural surroundings. Our trail running shoot revolved around model and professional athlete, Megan Lund. Megan was a pleasure to work with and never complained after literally running non-stop laps for two hours. Thank you Megan!

During a break in the action at the Telluride Photo Festival, Liam and I headed down the valley to check out the local fly fishing scene. The fish were there, but they weren’t biting.

But inside the diner, even on this cold, windy September morning, there was a buzz. The attitude wasn’t depressed or gloomy. Talk was about tractors, trucks and the car show that was going on just a few blocks away. It just goes to show that people will always find a way to make the best of their situation. But then again…what’s the alternative?

Before I left Maine I had one last amazing weekend with Jen and her family. A hurricane was coming so we did the only smart, rational thing we could think of. We spent the night out on Curtis Island instead of staying in the relative safety of Camden. Our brash invitation must have been too much for Hurricane Earl because he shied away and headed further north. We woke up to rain, but it quickly cleared and we were able to enjoy the island. We swam. We sailed. We swung.
Thank you Jen, Ace, Victoria, Samantha, Parker, Cedar, Ethan, Ellie and the entire Conover clan for such a fantastic time. I promise I’ll be back!
