I’m bound for the small town of Boulder, Utah to work as an assistant to Ace Kvale. Besides being one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met, Ace is also one of the world’s top outdoor adventure photographers. He was based out of Telluride, Colorado for 30 years before trading the mountains for the desert.

Josh Ritter has been at the top of my play-list since I first heard “Snow is Gone” on the soundtrack of Sinners at the 2005 Banff Mountain Film Festival in Salt Lake. I consider him a musical genius and his live shows have become a drug for me. To get our dose, Sasha and I drove his decrepit Mazda six hours to Madison. Not only did Ritter deliver, but Madison did too. We had some good German food at the Essen Haus and then beers in the sun on the back patio of UW-Madison’s Student Union. We didn’t get back to Duluth until 8am, but it was worth it.
